ATLA and Imagistic Team for Issue Retrieval Tool

ATLA Automation Issue Retrieval System

In 2017, Imagistic was enlisted by the American Theological Library Association (ATLA) to build a proof of concept for an issue retrieval system of published scholarly content. The idea was to provide an easy-to-use way to teach the system how to find and download a publisher’s most recent issue on their website. With a definition of frequency, the tool would automatically look for and download the most current issue from the publisher’s website, whether it was one or many PDFs. Once the proof of concept was approved, Imagistic was greenlit to build out the full application on top of the Drupal content management system; the full application launched July 2017.

“One of the more critical features of this system was defining a set of reusable and orderable instructions for the automation to execute on a daily basis,” explained Kevin Howard Goldberg, Imagistic President. “But the most challenging feature was the interface which teaches the system how to dynamically navigate each publisher's website and find the most current issue.”
