imagistic Redesigns the Mixitup.org Web Site for Teaching Tolerance

VENICE, CALIFORNIA – September 2003 – Over the past two years Imagistic has been working with the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) in designing and developing the center's online initiatives. In its 5th project working with the SPLC, Imagistic redesigned the http://www.mixitup.orgWeb site for the 2003 Mix It Up campaign.

In November of 2002, over 3,000 K-12 schools across the United States took part in "Mix It Up at Lunch Day", a campaign developed to help students explore new ways to identify and bridge the boundaries that separate people in every day life. The "Mix It Up at Lunch Day" campaign urged students to step outside of their cafeteria comfort zones and take a seat with new people to create a new experience for themselves and their friends. As part of the campaign, students used the web site to express new feelings and thoughts about the experience.

The updated www.mixitup.org site is the primary medium for publicizing the initiative and tracking response. Highlights of the site include:

  • A new Look & Feel that is consistent with all offline marketing and branding efforts
  • A Content Management System that gives the SPLC staff the ability to have better control of the site's content
  • Features such as articles, downloads, story submissions and e-cards to promote the campaign

The site is fully incorporated with and promoted by the teachingtolerance.org site in accordance with SPLC's integrated online strategic approach.
