imagistic Redesigns Web Site for the Southern Poverty Law Center's splcenter.org

VENICE, CALIFORNIA – October 2003 – In conjunction with an internal team at The Southern Poverty Law Center, Imagistic has redesigned and launched a more comprehensive and user friendly corporate Web site for the Southern Poverty Law Center.

The site offers donors and visitors the opportunity to learn more about the center's programs and browse through an ever-expanding library of resources and tools. It acts as springboard to the center's other online destinations, Teaching Tolerance and Tolerance.org. Imagistic developed a new, stream-lined Online Giving feature that allows users to donate to the center with just a few clicks of a button. As well, Imagistic developed a comprehensive Content Management System that allows users to publish single articles to multiple destinations, cross-link articles and news items and update images via an image library that holds hundreds of images for use on the Web site.

Other new features include:

  • An interactive Hate Map that highlights where hate groups reside in the United States with links to relevant resources and news items
  • A slide show of photographs of the Civil Rights Memorial
  • An online case docket, of the Center's legal cases, with briefs and other documents
  • E-cards that can be sent for In Honor and In Memoriam donations.

ABOUT THE SOUTHERN POVERTY LAW CENTER
The Center began as a small civil rights law firm in 1971. Now it is internationally known for its tolerance education programs, its legal victories against white supremacist groups, its tracking of hate groups and its sponsorship of the Civil Rights Memorial. Located in Montgomery, Alabama—the birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement—the Center was founded by Morris Dees and Joe Levin, two local lawyers who shared a commitment to racial equality. Its first president was civil rights activist Julian Bond, who continues his involvement in the Center's work today as President Emeritus.
