imagistic’s Boston University Site Redesign Wins Award for Campus Tours

VENICE, CALIFORNIA - October 15, 2002 - Within one month after launching its redesigned admissions Web site, Boston University has won an award from CampusTours.com for best online campus tour.

Developed by Internet software and services firm Imagistic, the new site (http://www.bu.edu/admissions) dramatically streamlines the application process and makes it easy for prospective students to learn about academic and student life at BU.

The "Day in the Life" virtual campus tours allow prospective new students to hear about student life both on and off campus from the perspective of current students at Freshman and Senior levels. The tours were developed using Macromedia Flash and show footage of campus and the surrounding Boston area, accompanied by students conveying their own experiences.

In addition to the virtual tours, the site allows students to:

Schedule a campus visit, including lunch in a dining hall or a class audit, via an interactive admissions calendar;
Find all application materials easily and intuitively, including scholarship and financial aid information, application timelines, guidelines for international or transferring students, and early decision instructions;
Submit and track the status of their applications online.

Since launching mid-September, the site has gathered over 2000 schedule requests for campus visits.
